In this assignment, we were tasked with learning to focus our camera. This assignment is of 2 minds. On the one hand I was so lost on what I was doing, but on the other hand I was so thrilled to be using my camera. Looking back, I can see what I did and what I could do now.

The purpose of this assignment was to 2-fold. One was to learn how shutter speed impacted a moving target. The other was how capturing a target moving impacted the background. The quicker the shutter speed the more it captured the moving fan blades independently. By moving with the person on the bike, I was able to keep them in focus while the background blurred. By this point, I knew we were learning an aspect of the Exposure Triangle, but still lost on how it all fit together. The practice helped move the concept on paper closer to reality.

The purpose of this assignment was to learn 2 ways to zoom in. One was by foot, just walking closer to the subject/object. One was to zoom in with your lens. The 3rd, Foreshortening, helped us learn the different outcomes lens and distance had when shooting a person. YIKES! This is a use of my camera that made sense. I would have liked to edit the quality of the images, but that was not a part of this assignment.

This assignment was designed to use a normal lens, find a location, and shoot what was happening around us. We were not allowed to move around, but instead embrace what was nearby. I chose to go to a park along the water's edge in Poulsbo, WA. It provided variety and opportunities. I actually liked this assignment. It felt more natural than previous assignments. I felt like I was taking "real" photos. We were not allowed to edit the photos. So, what you snapped is what you get.
