I loved the reflection of the piano keys in her shoe and the purple reflection of the stained glass windows at the top of the photo. Almost all of this was ambient light. I adjusted the doll so the white on her chest and on her dress reflected the ceilings lights. I used Auto Tone in Lightroom Classic.

The doll is sitting on a white lacy valance on an antique dresser. I added the valance to catch the light in the room. I shot it at this angle so my reflection would not be caught in the mirror. I used Auto Tone in Lightroom Classic on this image.

LIGHTING MATTERS

Same doll, different lightening, gave it a completely different skin tone. This was a test photo to see what I needed to do for lighting in the church. I did not realize the change in skin tone until I got home and imported it into Lightroom Classic. I used Auto Tone on this image as well.
In this assignment, we were to create 3 beautifully lit, uniquely different still life photos. I used my daughter's China doll as the subject of my Still Life photos. I took several on a dresser at home and then moved to our church for the other photos. It squeezed my creative juices as I tried to find a context for this doll. The final shot was actually the first one in the church sanctuary. I'd set the doll on a pew while I assessed the environment. I snapped the shot to get a read on the lighting and saw it was dark. I, then, turned on the overhead lights. It was not until I got home that I realized the change to the dolls skin tone. I used it as an example for the effects of lighting upon a, any, subject.

I thought I understood the assignment until the end of the class ahead of the assignment. At that time, a student asked for clarity and I heard the response as 1 item in 3 settings followed by a yes. It wasn't until I received my grade that I realized the mistake. I felt terrible, but that, too, is a part of the learning process. The photo to the left is the first picture I took in my Still Life series. It looks like my original instincts were correct. Overall, I am still overwhelmed. I have little to no technical experience beyond point & shoot. I barely know what to do with or in Lightroom Classic. I feel like I'm always in the rears trying to catch up and catch on.
